Hi, my name is Ella Smith (Coach Smith) and I am running for the district 2 DeKalb County School Board Position. If you live in district 2 I hope you will meet with me and discuss any concerns you may have so as I can better get an understanding of the concerns of this district.

In summary, as a champion of our most critical issues, I will provide: 

1. "World Class" education for all students

2. Attract and retain qualified teachers and principals

3. Provide a safe, clean, and effective environment for learning to occur

4. Work to provide adequate materials in the classrooms

5. Use Taxpayers’ money as efficiently as possible to reduce taxes, if possible, but to continue improving our school system

Why I Have Decided To Run

Over the past several years, I have became very interested in Dekalb County School System offering the best education for our students, providing a safe environment for all teachers, staff and students, and I have been concerned that our taxpayers' money may not always be used as efficiently as I feel is possible to reduce taxes but to continue to improve our school system. As a teacher in the DeKalb County School System for many years I was concerned about the equity of education for every student in the DeKalb County School System. I feel some programs and class offerings are the best in the state but I have seen other programs which appear to be way behind other counties in the state and I would like to see us have superior programs for every student in Dekalb County.

How We Will Embark On This Historic Journey Together

As this school system faces growth in some areas and reduction in other areas, I have forward thinking which is committed to working with other local leaders to plan for the future growth and development of this county while actively finding solutions to the many challenges we face today. 
I believe that I am that type of leader and with your help I will be your new District 2 School Board member in Dekalb County. Together we can make sure that the priorities that are really important to the residents of Dekalb County are being represented.
